Ubella Vaccine (ra27/3 Strain) in Australian Schoolgir

چکیده
T he immunogenicity and reactogenicity of the RA27/3 strain of rubella vaccine was evaluated in schoolgirls 11 to 12 years old in a study from April to July, 1987. The incidence of adverse events was lower in initially seropositive girls compared to seronegative cohorts throughout the follow-up period. Overall, 22 per cent of the vaccinees reported symptoms in the first week after vaccination, the most frequent being pain at the site of injection and headache. All initially seronegative girls administered vaccine seroconverted. This vaccine is immunogenic and well-tolerated and can therefore be used without the need for pre-vaccination screening.

Differences in Establishment of Persistence of Vaccine and Wild Type Rubella Viruses in Fetal Endothelial Cells
Both wild type (WT) and vaccine rubella virus (RV) can pass through the placenta to infect a human fetus, but only wtRV routinely causes pathology. To investigate possible reasons for this, we compared establishment of persistence of wtRV and RA27/3 vaccine strains in fetal endothelial cells. We showed that yields of RA27/3 and wtRV were similar after the first round of replication, but then on...

1043 have been due to direct trauma or haematoma around an aberrantly coursing hypoglossal nerve, we still consider high puncture of the internal jugular vein to be a useful approach. Immunity induced by rubella vaccines must persist throughout the childbearing years, a period of about 30 years. We have reported persistence of rubella antibody at values exceeding 15 000 IU/l in 89 4% of volunte...

Since the development in 1961 by Hayflick and Moorhead of a human diploid cell strain (HDCS) culture system for isolating viruses, HDCS-derived human vaccines have been licensed worldwide for polio IPV and OPV (multiple strains), rabies (Pitman-Moore L503 3M strain); rubella (RA27/3 strain); measles (Edmonston-Zagreb strain); varicella-zoster (Oka strain); mumps (Rubini strain) and hepatitis A ...

Sera from 123 volunteers vaccinated six to 16 years previously with one of four rubella vaccines (Cendehill, RA27/3, HPV77-DE5, and To-336) were tested for rubella antibodies by single radial haemolysis and radioimmunoassay. By radioimmunoassay 110 (894%) of the vaccinees had antibody concentrations greater than the minimum immune titre (that is, > 15 000 IU/1), 11 (8 9%) were seropositive but ...
